Interesting day

Quite by accident, and fortuitously so, I came across a challenge on Key Lime Digital Designs' blog that looked interesting. So I rearranged my plans to work on this challenge. I was more than half way done with it last night when the power went out around 9:30 pm. It didn't come back up until 10:20 pm or so, and by that time I was tired and ready for bed. I started back to work on my design this morning.

After one snafu and another, I have finally finished it. Everything in the design is by KLDD except for the splat, which is from a kit called Cuppycake by Danimoy. I wanted to use the splat in KLDD's Days of Gold kit, which was working fine both yesterday and earlier today. However, somewhere in the process of adjusting hues and colors, I must have done something awfully wrong because many of the PNG files in this kit suddenly took on solid BLACK backgrounds and changed to TIFs! Even discarding the file and unzipping the original didn't fix the problem, which, to me, is doubly weird.

Otherwise, all papers and ellies are from the following kits by KLDD: Days of Gold (papers), Tug of My Heart Strings (papers, butterfly, button, heart), Adventures on the Overseas Highway (1 paper), and Close to My Heart (1 paper). I think that's it; if not, I'll revise this post as I figure out better what I used and from where.

Here it is -- tada! -- Flowers at the Fairmont ...

Beginning blogger?

LOL, I have to laugh. Even though I signed up for a blogspot eons ago, I have yet to master the simplest functions of this complex tool (and to me, it is very complex). I entered my first post here in September 2011, so it's taken more than a year to get up the energy to tackle this again. I feel like retreating to my hermit hole; however, I have to do this because I want to begin sharing my designs and photos.

"You can use Facebook, instead," you say? That will get you an even bigger laugh, my friend. No, I find that navigating Facebook is like trying to get around the D/FW metroplex or San Antonio. I'd rather be stuck deep in the rainforest on St. Croix. I can find my way outta da bush in no time down here, but the hiways and byways of D/FW and SA totally confound me. Well, onwards and upwards into this jolly adventure I must go!

Bloggered to death

Gee, my first post was going to be upbeat and happy about finally setting up a scrapbooking blog where I can share goodies I've made and make comments about the state of the art of scrapping. After close to four frustrating hours of trying to manipulate a basic Blogger template, however, I'm BEAT!

I now wish I hadn't stopped learning how to write HTML code from scratch back in the day. It would make it so much easier to edit the source code in premade designs or even skip other people's designs altogether and create my own. Blogger templates are very difficult to edit, unlike PSD templates in Adobe Photoshop, thanks to the extensive gadgets, devices, CSS, etc., built into Blogger template source code.

A search of Google brought up several helpful sites with tips that can help a person get around these Blogger template built-ins, which the Help page in Blogger doesn't do. Sometimes the writer even provides the exact line of code to look for when you want to make a particular change, say, to your blog header or profile.
